Green Heron Sanctuary
101 Bromfield Way
Cary, NC 27519
About 15 years ago, the Hathaways noticed a very large, very odd bird snacking out of their koi pond. They photographed the visitor and showed an Ornithologist friend who identified it as a Little Green Heron. The following year the heron brought a mate, and for 6 years they raised several broods in the 1/3 acre garden in a sub-division in Cary! Shannon loved them so much, she named her landscaping company after them! She sold the business in 2013 and now works as a Sales Consultant for Super-Sod, and blogs at personaledens.com.
The garden style of Green Heron Sanctuary is eclectic, flea-market chic. Look for the many re-purposed items in the garden, including the bar from an old kid’s fort. The garden has many rooms, and lots of edible landscaping, as well as plentiful habitat for wildlife. Pollinators are welcomed with lots of flowering perennials. Shannon gardens organically for the health of pollinators, wildlife, and her family and yours.
