English Garden/Woodland Paradise
Garden of C. J. Dykes
105 Oakmist Drive, Cary, NC 27513
My gardens consist of a rose garden with over 100 different roses, full sun perennial gardens full to overflowing, a total shade grotto-type garden under the deck, and a woodland garden that is a cool retreat on a hot summer day. Throughout the gardens are many water features and whimsical garden art. The paved and wood-chip mulch paths allow for comfortable viewing of all the gardens. Many chairs and benches allow the viewer to rest, relax, and just enjoy the view of all the flora and fauna. Speaking of fauna, I have song birds of all types, woodpeckers, owls, a pair of hawks, humming birds, and doves. I have at least one to two broods of Cardinal chicks every season in one of more of the large cedar trees. Also seen are box turtles, opossums, squirrels, various snakes, and lizards. As far as invertibrates goes I have honey bees (from someone’s hives), bumble bees, various wasps (especially when my English Ivy shrub is in full bloom), a colony of black ground bees that I dearly love. Butterflies also abound! The English Garden/Woodland Paradise is a certified Wildlife Habitat and Pollinator Habitat.
